Dramatic finishes were the story for Rock Creek as the Lady Mustangs rode a pair of walk off hits from Macey Weger to victories on the way to the slow pitch regional title and trip to the Class 2A state tournament for the first time since 2017.

Weger’s two-out RBI single broke a deadlock for a 7-6 stunner over second-rated Arapaho-Butler and delivered another two-out run-scoring hit to cap a four-run final frame for a 15-14 triumph over ninth-ranked Depew as Rock Creek improved to 18-8 on the season.

There was little drama about the regional championship treks of Caddo or Silo as both advanced back to the state tournament this week at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

Caddo blasted Stratford, 14-3 and then dispatched Rattan, 8-2, on the way to the Class 3A regional crown. Silo meanwhile worked a 15-0 whitewashing of Dibble and also belted Stroud, 13-1, to punch its ticket to the Class 4A state event.

Rock Creek

The Lady Mustangs, who began the playoffs ranked 13th in the state, rallied from an early deficit by scoring a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth stanzas to surge in front. Olivia Whitaker had the first big blow with a two-run homer with a triple by Maddie Williams and singles from Weger, Laney Knight and Whitaker doing the damage in the fifth.

Arapaho answered with three in the sixth to tie the game before a final flurry from the Lady Mustangs in the seventh.

Emma Gann opened the frame with a single and eventually came around to score on Weger’s game winner.

Williams ended with three hits as Weger, Knight, Whitaker and Audrey Knight all posted two.

Things looked bleak for the Lady Mustangs after falling behind 10-0 versus Depew before putting together a huge comeback over the final five stanzas.

Rock Creek plated seven in the third, one in the fourth and fifth and two in the sixth to cut the deficit to 14-11.

Audrey Knight began the final rally with one of her team-high four hits, Laynie Laymon doubled and Channah Palmer added another single. Gann’s RBI double narrowed the gap to one and Williams knotted it on a sacrifice fly. That once again set up Weger for the walk off single with two outs.

Williams and Laymon tossed in three hits apiece as Davis, Laney Knight and Whitaker all posted a pair of hits.

Caddo

Two-time defending champ Caddo got off to a blazing start with four tallies in the first against Stratford and never looked back while pounding out 15 hits.

The Lady Bruins tacked on a run in the third, five in the fourth and four more in the fifth to end it early on the run rule.

Kadey McKay led that charge with a home run and four batted, three of which came on a game-ending blast in the fifth inning.

Cowan notched three hits and knocked in three runs. Jaycie Nichols, Rylan Peevyhouse, Presley Beck and Jordyn Nichols each added two hits.

The title tilt against Rattan saw Caddo break open a tie game with two innings to play as the Lady Bruins scored six unanswered runs for the victory.

Singles by Taylor, Prince, Jaycie Nichols and Peevyhouse spurred a three-run sixth inning burst. Anna Adair opened the seventh with a triple and scored on a Logan Busby single. Peevyhouse and McKay also chipped in RBI singles.

Peevyhouse and McKay were the offensive catalysts with three hits apiece. Adair tossed in two.

Silo

Perfect games are usually rare in slow pitch softball, but the Lady Rebels turned the trick with the dominant win over Dibble that lasted only three innings.

Silo took away any doubt in a 10-run first frame offensive eruption ignited by Timber Hensley’s leadoff homer. Neely House chipped in a pair of doubles in the inning and Connie Tubby tallied a double as part of her two hits in the stanza as well.

Hensley and House each had three hits, scored three and drove in two apiece. Tubby contributed three RBI on two hits with Cache Atwood notching a pair of hits as well. Brooklyn Toney also homered.

The Lady Rebels smashed Stroud early and often with three runs in the first and second stanzas before putting it completely out of reach with five tallies in the third as they racked up 14 hits.

Connie and Kostina Tubby fueled the barrage with three hits apiece with Connie posting a home run. House, Hensley and Bree Ginn each homered as Hensley drove in three with two hits and House had two RBI with a pair of hits. Avery Beauchamp also pitched in two hits and knocked in two.
