CALERA - Breawna McCraw was a force on both sides of the ball in an 11-3 Colbert fast-pitch win over Calera on Thursday.

McCraw struck out 10 in five innings as pitcher, and went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored.

She also got a lot of help from younger team members like Kylie Rice and Samantha Cummins, who combined for four RBIs.

Calera pitcher Madi Robinson kept the Lady Leopards in check through three innings, allowing just two runs on two hits until a four-run fourth and a five-run fifth sealed Colbert’s 20th win of the season.

“We’ve been hitting the ball really well,” said Colbert softball coach Damon Lewis. “We are starting to gel at the right time. This is a good win to get our confidence up going into districts.”

The Leopards (20-8) will host Calera for a best-of-three series next Thursday starting at 4 p.m. After Colbert’s struggles at the Durant tournament last week, they got a badly-needed comeback win at Healdton on Tuesday before visiting the rival LadyDawgs on Thursday.
