Town of Achille trustees to meet on Tuesday

ACHILLE - The town board of trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 8) at 211 W. Main St. in Achille.

The agenda begins with the resignation of board member Stephen Bates. Later in the agenda, trustees will discuss the “hiring” of a new board member.

Routine matters such as approval of minutes, treasurer’s report and payment of bills will follow. The board will also discuss plans for a city-wide clean-up as well as item 10 which refers to “lights in offices.”

The board has also scheduled an executive session to discuss the “employment, hiring, appointment, demotion, disciplining or resignation of any individual salaried public office of employee.”

Five people are listed by name to be included in the discussion: Former Achille Police Chief Chasity Barkley, Elza Frederick Schroeder, Curtis Smith, Arron Bucy and Randy Smith. The hiring of a new board member and new chief of police are also listed to be discussed in the closed session.

The board of trustees and the public will be invited to make public comments after the executive session.
