The Altus Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #120 (F.O.P.) is once again sponsoring “Spooky Town” which is a community event that has been growing significantly each year. This event is held on Halloween at the old “Spooky Town” located directly behind Imagination Station on Falcon Road, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Halloween night, Oct. 31. The first year they were able to provide a safe and fun time for approximately 2,500 children and this has grown after four years to approximately 6,000 children and their families last year. The F.O.P anticipates an even larger turnout this year.
The members of the Altus F.O.P. view this event not only as an opportunity to serve the community but to give back to the community by creating a safe and secure environment for children to celebrate the Halloween Holiday and to “Trick-or-Treat” safely. The local businesses and community have always been more that helpful during this event. Each year, many volunteers along with members of the Altus F.O.P. get together to repair and clean “Safety Town” for this event.
As you can imagine the cost to purchase the candy which is handed out to the children every year has grown, therefore, the F.O.P. asks for any donation of candy or money to help defray the cost of this worth-while event and to once again make it a huge success.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact F.O.P. Lodge #120 President Robert McGill, or Spooky Town Committee Chairman Jason McGill by calling the Altus Police Department (580) 482-4121, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
