During the week of Nov. 4-8, Altus will be celebrating their annual Farm City Week.
There are two events the Altus Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to attend and one event Col Bill Spangenthal, Commander 97th Air Mobility Wing, would like to invite you to participate in. Please check your schedule and respond as quickly as possible. Agricultural activities are responsible for pumping over $150,000,000 dollars into our local economy, so this annual event is our way of acknowledging their contribution and recognizing the importance of their impact to our community.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, there will be a Farm City Week Farmers Appreciation Luncheon at Western Oklahoma State College, Multi-Purpose Room. The buffet line opens at 11:30 a.m. Cost of the luncheon is $10. Please call the chamber office for your reservations. Think about inviting a farmer as your guest. The people who are on the farm tours will be joining us for the lunch.
The morning and afternoon farm tours will begin at 8:05 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. The tour buses will travel to the Humphrey’s Coop Gin , Gavillon , Altus Peanut Company, Joe Kelly Farms, Lugert-Altus Irrigation District demonstration project and tractor driving will be provided by Western Equipment and Livingston Machinery at the Rodeo grounds.
Parking for the farm tours will be in the Southwest corner of the South parking lot at the college where buses will be ready to depart for the tours.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, will be the Farm City Week Banquet, at 6:30 p.m., in the Altus High School Cafetorium. Tickets are $20. Please stop by the Chamber for your tickets. Entertainment will be provided by our hometown favorite group “Just Call Us When You Need Us”. KEYB Radio sponsors the winners of the Soil Conservation District Speech Contest and they will present their speeches. The KWHW Radio “Legends of Agriculture” award will be presented at the banquet. Ambassadors will serve as hosts and greeters!
Colonel Bill Spangenthal, Commander of the 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus Air Force Base, is hosting a tour of Altus Air Force Base this year. If you or someone else you know would like to attend we will need full legal name, date of birth and social security number for those interested in going on the tour. Those attending will gather at 7 a.m. at the Altus Community Center on Falcon Road.
Three great activities…..call the Altus Chamber of Commerce at 580-482-0210 to sign up.
