Victory Life Academy has a new head coach, four returning players and seven new faces on the Eagles’ boys basketball team.

Coach Chris Valliere, who is no stranger to basketball in this area, has moved up from assistant coach to take the top position for both boys and girls teams. His playing experience includes Southeastern and Southwest Assemblies of God, and he volunteered for two seasons to assist the Savage Storm program.

Valliere will now head up the Eagles program, which he says will start one junior, two sophomores and two freshmen.

“We have intensity, and we try to be a defensive-minded team,” he said. “We’re young, but we come in with the mindset of playing together.”

Team leader will be junior Zac Hestily, whom Valliere calls his “go-to guy.”

“He’s a scorer,” he said of Hestily. “He can shoot the three, mid-range and take it to the rack. He can do it all.”

Behind him will be sophomores Grant Rustin, Conner Harrison and stand-out freshman Chandler Stampley. the latter replaces brother Chase who graduated last year.

Assisting Valleier on the baselines will be Karahjon Hurd, former Eagle Hunter Principe, and Caleb Taylor.
