Durant bows out of the ECU Classic

ADA - The Durant Lions and the Stillwater Pioneers fought for the third place at the ECU Classic on Saturday, but the Lions came out flat and loss 82-56.

The Lions came off two highly emotional games before the the third place game. The Lion beat Shawnee 53-50 in overtime and the next day loss to Ada 49-48.

Stillwater stifled the Lions offense with full-court pressure and zone defense. Which they converted into points, Stillwater led 27-10 after the first period.

Durant’s offense battle and got in a rhythm in the second period, but Stillwater traded buckets with the Lions and trailed 42-24 headed into halftime.

In the third period, the Lions tried to rally. But the Durant couldn’t stop Stillwater’s offense as the Pioneers extended its lead to 62-38.

Taylor Cox tried to keep the Lions close in the fourth period as he hit three 3-pointers, but it was too little, too late as Stillwater rolled to take third place.

Zac Cater was the All-Star selection for the Lions.
