The Durant Communication Center said farewell to two long time dispatchers Friday afternoon. A party was hosted at the Durant Police Department for retiring dispatchers Alice Hall and Beverly Lawson.

Hall has been a dispatcher with the Durant Communication Center for 25 years while Lawson has been with the center for 15 years.

Durant Police Captain Mike Woodruff said the two women had developed such a friendship over the years that when Hall announced her decision to retire Lawson also decided to retire the very same day.

Captain Woodruff, Durant Chief of Police Durward A. Cook and Deputy Chief David Houser shared memories of the women before Capt. Woodruff presented them with tokens of appreciation.

Both women received a glass plaque commemorating their time with the department as well as a poster signed by those in the Durant Police Department, Communication Center and City government.

Hall also received a one-of-a-kind Fossil watch with the Durant PD emblem on the face of the watch.
