Dozens of men, women and children gathered Wednesday at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex to participate in the 2014 Red River Special Olympics Track and Field day.
Athletes of all ages participated in events such as foot races, wheelchair races, long jumps, softball tosses and javelin throws during the event.
While athletes did compete against one another, the goal of the Special Olympics event was to allow those with special needs the opportunity to showcase their strengths.
The theme of the Red River Special Olympics each year is “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
