Trooper Steve Nabors Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop E Durant

May 8, 2014

Spring is here and school is almost out for the summer break. With that said it usually means more people are out and about. So far this year, we have had more fatalities in Bryan County since the first of the year to date than in past years.

Of the eight fatalities investigated by the OHP, here are the causes: one driver went left of center while under the influence of alcohol (DUI) resulting in his death, one vehicle went left of center causing one death, two vehicles were operating at an unsafe speed causing the deaths of four people, one person died as a result of a sleepy driver and one vehicle-related death was deemed a medical condition.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is working hard to prevent injuries and fatalities through education and enforcement. We ask that everyone that hits the road to be buckled up, observe traffic signs and signals and please do not drink and drive. The life saved may be your own. Drive safe and enjoy the summer.
