Choctaw Senior Center celebrates four years
The Choctaw Senior Citizens of District 9 hosted an Anniversary Appreciation Luncheon Wednesday at their center.
Honored guests included the Choctaw Nation Chief Gregory E. Pyle, Asst. Chief Gary Batton, Councilman Ted Dosh and their staffs, along with others who aided in the progress of the activities.
President Marilynn Mitchell-Dill introduced the other officers, First Vice President Jo Selby, Second Vice President Sharon Zondor, Secretary and Outstanding Elder Rosa Gilmore, Treasurer Bob Green and Assistant Treasurer and Outstanding Elder Jim Cox.
Odessa St. John, a charter member of the group which started at Sherrer’s Restaurant, gave the history of the past Senior Centers.
Mrs. Dill told of the growth in the past four years and acknowledged those who have assisted in their activities.
The 7,600-foot facility was dedicated August 19, 2009, but now has a far greater membership since its opening four years ago.
Entertainment was provided by Russell Strayhorn on guitar, Gayla Green on keyboard and Bucky Davenport on drums while the Choctaw Men Singers of District 9 performed to “Those Oklahoma Hills.”
