The Choctaw Casino will be featuring some big names in hard rock tonight. Motley Crue will be hitting the stage at 8 p.m. and hosting the show, will be radio and television host and author Eddie Trunk.

Trunk is the host of two radio shows, one on FM radio in New York and one on Satellite radio. He is also the host on VH1 Classic.

He said the thing he is most known for is his co-hosting position on the show “That Metal Show” on VH1 Classic.

Trunk said he has crossed paths with Motley Crue several times since the band’s conception in the 1980s.

The band is also included in Trunk’s first book, “Eddie Trunk’s Essential Hard Rock and Heavy Metal” published in 2011 which he will be selling and signing at the event.

The book features 30 bands Trunk has interacted with and why he loves them. Copies of his first book will sell for $30 at tonight’s event.

The sequel to this book will be released September 24 featuring 30 more bands. Some bands featured in the second book include Alice in Chains, Buckcherry and Marilyn Manson.

“It’s a really exciting time for me because I’m celebrating my 30th anniversary in radio and we just passed 100 episodes of the TV show, and my second book is about to come out,” said Trunk.

He said along with his radio and television projects, one of the things he does is host shows for promoters and bands around the country when asked.

He said he is happy to do this because it allows him to get out of New York and connect with other fans of music and see the bands away from the big market.

Trunk said he has been coming to Oklahoma often for the last six years hosting Rocklahoma but has never been to the Durant area.

Trunk said he appreciates the open space of the area though regrettably has not gotten to explore the area.

Trunk also spoke about Motley Crue and the concert he will be hosting tonight. Trunk revealed that that he is a big fan of Motley Crue.

He said it was for this reason that he declined to comment when bass player Nikki Sixx asked if he had any songs he wanted them to play at the concert.

“I am someone who is really into this stuff and know deep into the catalogs of these artists so a lot of times what I want to hear is not what the masses want to hear,” Trunks said.

He confirmed that the band does have intentions of parting ways in the near future but said he does not think it will happen for another two or three years.

Trunk said the band still has plans for one more album and a farewell tour. He said he does not know if he will be joining the band on their farewell tour but Trunk said one thing that makes Motley Crue special near the end of their time as a band is that they have the original band members.

“There’s really only a handful of bands you can say that about,” said Trunk.

He said the band revealed that they want to go out on a high note.

“I don’t think it means they are all done with music. I think they’ll all go on and do their individual things,” Trunk said.

Trunk said he appreciates fans of what he does.

“The people in this area have always been so kind to me and so supportive,” he said, adding that he looks forward to seeing fans at the show tonight.
