AgPreference, ACA, presented a $10,000 check donation to the Salvation Army of Altus on Wednesday to help in the effort to aid those in struggling with hunger. Fifty percent of funds are to be used in Jackson County and 50 percent to be used in Greer County.


“We are proud to ‘share our success’ with those in need and be good corporate citizens,” said Cecil H. Sheperson, AgPreference President and Chief Executive Officer. “By getting involved, we can make a difference in helping with this cause and the important work the Salvation Army does every day.”


Oklahoma is one of the hungriest states in America. Over the years the percentage of the state’s population classified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as “food insecure” has risen to 21.4%. More than 675,000 Oklahomans are risk of going hungry every day. Statistics show that one in four children in Oklahoma struggles with hunger.


The $10,000 donation to the Salvation Army is a cooperative effort between AgPreference and CoBank, the district funding bank for AgPreference. AgPreference donated $5,000 and CoBank matched the $5,000 for a grand total of $10,000.


Next week, AgPreference will also be be making donations to help with hunger relief for Kiowa, Tilman, Harmon, and Cotton Counties.
