The annual Parade of Homes sponsored by the Durant Education and Service Sorority (DESS) is set to be held on Sunday, December 8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event allows guests to have an inside look at the homes of selected Durant residents as they display their holiday decor.

Check next Sunday for the second home to be Featured in this year’s Parade of Homes. Tickets can be purchased at Bliss Boutique, The Hollow Tree, The Iron Gate Cafe, Marie’s, The Medicine Store, and Hot Shots.

Proceeds go to help local community groups and projects such as the Southeastern Endowed Scholarship, Durant Public Schools, the Pregnancy Center of Bryan County, Families Feeding Families, Crisis Center, OSF Children’s Theater, Youth Services and Rock Creek schools.

The first of three houses on display this year will be the home of Thomas and DeAnn Marcum located at 3025 Prestonwood Circle. The Marcums also have 2 children at the home.

The home is almost 12 years old and was purchased by the family approximately one and a half years ago. The home is 4,200 square feet and has five bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.

This home has a traditional style with unique pieces from New Orlean’s French Quarter as well as a beautiful authentic wood flooring.

Among the Christmas decorations will be the family’s favorite tree located in the den of the home. The tree will be decorated with gift ornaments, the children’s ornaments and ornaments collected on the family’s travels.
