Local 4-H members have been busy this Holiday Season. The children have worked on food drives, with Meals on Wheels and received funding from the Durant Masonic Lodge.
This year each local club held a food drive to see which club could gather the most food for those in need this holiday season.
The Silo 4-H club won a pizza party for their December meeting. With all the local clubs combined, Bryan County 4-H donated almost 1,000 canned food items to one of the local food banks in Durant.
Bryan County 4-H Teen Council also voted to take part of the money, that they have earned through their 4-H dances, to make a donation to Meals on Wheels program.
The 4-H members had the opportunity to take a tour at the RSVP office and to learn more about the Meals on Wheels program.
They learned aspects of the program such as where the food is cooked, who cooks and how it is delivered.
Bryan County 4-H Educator Macy Vansickle said she was very thankful that the teens had an opportunity to learn more about the Meals on Wheels and see what an excellent program it is and how so many benefits come from it.
The children also spent one evening serving food at the Bryan County Masonic Lodge to show their gratitude to the lodge for a donation made to the Bryan County 4-H.
Bryan County 4-H would like to thank the Durant Masonic Lodge #45 for their continued support.
