The Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and Library became a drop off site for recycling this week. A recycling container provided by the Choctaw Nation recycling center was brought to the library Tuesday for public use.

“We have a good flow of traffic here. Now they can bring their recycling too,” said the library’s Program Director & Community Center Manager Robbee Tonubbee.

Tonubbee said the idea came when members of the Friends of the Library group went to the recycling center for supplies used in making snowmen for the Christmas craft show.

While at the recycling center, the group received a tour which Tonubbee said impressed them. They asked about getting their own container to place at the library.

That container arrived and Tonubbee said they want people to know it is there for everybody’s use.

“It’s great for the community and we’re excited to be a part of it,” said Tonubbee.

She said this recycling container is expected to be a help to both the community and the library itself by providing a close, public place to recycle.

The Choctaw Recycling Center accepts any kind of paper and cardboard.

They accept plastics, #1, 2 and 5 only, as well as aluminum and tin/steel cans, printer cartridges and Styrofoam.

For a full list of accepted items contact the recycling center at (580) 920-0488.
