After serving almost 32 years in the Bryan County Court Clerk’s Office, Court Clerk Sandy Stroud is retiring.
Bryan County Commissioners accepted her resignation, effective April 1, on Thursday.
Stroud has worked for the court clerk’s office since August 1982, and was appointed court clerk on May 1, 1997, when clerk Beverly Serner retired.
She said she is retiring to babysit her grandson and granddaughter, and that she may come back to the court clerk’s office in the future to work part time.
Stroud recommended her first deputy Donna Alexander to take over the two years remaining in Stroud’s current term.
She said she recommends Alexander due to her experience and knowledge of the office.
“She’s the best person for the job,” said Stroud.
A retirement reception for Stroud will be held from 2-4 p.m. March 28 at the courthouse.
