The United Way awarded its first Suman Chairman’s Cup for the Hunger’s End 5k to the First United Bank team this week.

The cup is a traveling trophy to be presented to a sponsored team that has the shortest average time in the Hunger’s End 5K race each year.

Each Gold and Silver sponsor of the event was entered in the team competition for the Suman Chairman’s Cup. Each sponsor could compile a five-person team to participate in the race.

The First United team competed against 16 other sponsored teams for the trophy. The team for First United included Bryan and Bridget Wandel, Trey and Amanda Bowman, and Nathan Anderson.

According to First United Bank regional credit officer Brett Rogers, other participating bank employees included himself as well as Rick Lane, James Harrington, Toni Preston, Arlene Helms, Jamie Smith, Jami Wilson, Brittany Schoolcraft, Colton Stephens, Brodey Harrin and Selina Hernandez.

First United volunteers at the event also helped in the water tent at the event, including Dennis Garrett, Daniel Hendrickson, Layna Middleton, Caleb Caudle, and Tracie Hobbs.
