The Durant Elks Lodge showed its appreciation to area students, law enforcement and first responders Thursday.
The lodge held a spaghetti lunch for area seniors who are at the top of their class, including student body presidents, vice presidents, valedictorians and salutatorians.
May is officially youth appreciation month, however the Elks lodge hosts this appreciation meal a month early due to the high amount of school activity in May.
Approximately eight area schools gathered for the meal. No speeches were given. The Elks lodge members said this was simply to show that they are proud of these students.
The lodge hosted a spaghetti dinner for local law enforcement and first responders at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
This was a come-and-go event to allow all law enforcement and first responders to eat at their own convenience around their schedules.
Guests were also encouraged to bring family, so the Elks Lodge could show appreciation for the families who support law enforcement and first responders.
The Elks Lodge hosts these meals every year to honor the youth and emergency personnel. The meal was prepared by members of the Elks Lodge and served by members of the Elks Lodge Women’s auxiliary.
