The Durant Police Department responded to the discovery a deceased man on Friday.

Police were dispatched at approximately noon to the 200 block of Katy Ave. after a passerby found the body, and when officers arrived, they found a deceased Native American male, later identified as Travis Lee Baker, 55, Durant, lying in the grass near the southeast corner of Bryan Agri.

Police tape was placed around the area while officers investigated and waited for the arrival of an examiner from the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office.

“At this time, foul play is not suspected, but cannot be ruled out,” Detective Drew Hale said.

The case is still under investigation and the cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Services for Baker are pending with Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
