The Magnolia Festival began Wednesday evening with the opening of the Pride Amusement Carnival.
The following events are scheduled through Sunday:
Today: Vendor booths and the art show will open at 4 p.m., as does the carnival. Choctaw dancers will take the stage at 6 p.m. with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. and Choctaw Princess Pageant at 7 p.m. At dusk, there will be a fireworks display presented by Brady’s Stockpile O’ Fireworks. Booths will close at 10 p.m.
Friday: Vendor booths and the art show will open at 10 a.m. The carnival will get going at noon. Fetch-N-Fish Dog Show will start at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Hear local entertainment starting at 3 p.m. At 7 p.m. on the outside stage (bring lawn chairs), up-and-coming country artist Deryl Dodd will perform before country music legend Gene Watson at 8:30. The art show will close at 9 p.m. and vendor booths at 10.
Saturday: The day will get rolling at 8 a.m. in Durant’s Carl Albert Park with the Rotary Magnolia Bike Ride. Market Square in downtown Durant will be the starting point of the Magnolia Run 5/K and Walk at 8:30 a.m. The children’s parade will begin at 10 a.m. also downtown at Fourth Avenue and Main Street. Vendor booths and the art show will open at 10 a.m. at the event center. The Veterans Reception for those who served in Desert Storm will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Choctaw RV Park. The carnival will open at 11 a.m. At noon, the “Largest Turtle Race in Oklahoma” and children’s free events will begin. Local entertainment begins at noon. The Fetch-N-Fish Dog Show will be at 2 p.m. The Red River Noodling weigh-in will be at 6 p.m. on the outside stage (bring lawn chairs). At 7 p.m., YouTube sensation Noah Guthrie will perform. Marshall Koontz & the Little Johnny’s will entertain at 8:30 p.m. The art show will close at 9 p.m. and vendor booths at 10.
Sunday: Vendor booths and the art show will open at 11 a.m. A community fish fry will start serving at noon. Cost will be $5 per plate. The carnival will open at 1 p.m. The Ice Cream Freeze-Off will start at 1 p.m. At 1:30 p.m. on outside stage (bring lawn chairs), the “Community Churchs’ Sing-Spiration” will feature The Gene Anoatubby Family, The Johnson Family Quartet, Victory Life Church, First Baptist Church of Durant, Abundant Life Temple and Fusion Baptist Church. Vendor booths will close at 4 p.m.
