Following a delicious breakfast and brief worship service, over 35 members of the Community Christian Church of Durant went as Jesus’ hands and feet to the Village Seniors complex on Sunday, March 30.

The church members gathered at the complex in order to assist residents there with various household chores.

As part of its quarterly “Great Serve Day,” the church group raked and bagged leaves, changed light bulbs, cleaned flower beds, swept porches and brought smiles to the Seniors at the Village.

One resident said, “It makes our day to see young people and their parents working together like this to help someone in need.”

A second group of church ladies led the preschool and early elementary-age children on a visit to the Durant police and fire stations and to two area nursing homes, bringing joy and excitement to both young and old.

“Sometimes our elderly and even our first responders are overlooked when it comes to a word of encouragement or a hug of appreciation. That’s why we like to do this kind of thing on a regular basis,” said one of the church women.

Continuing its pursuit of Christ-centered church growth and church health, Community Christian Church of Durant meets on Sundays for fellowship at 9 a.m., Bible classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m., and worship, led by Worship Minister Harry Ringressy, at 10:30 a.m.
