As the Julia Jackson Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy continues their commemoration of the War Between the States, Dr. Dottie Davis will present a program on “Andersonville” which is the most notorious prison of the war. Dr. Davis visited this prison last year and will share her pictures and the role the prison played in the war. The program will be at the Three Valley Museum on Wednesday, April 16 at 1 p.m.
The 150th Commemoration of the War Between the States has been taking place from 2011-2015 and the Julia Jackson Chapter has had a special program each April recognizing this event. It also coincides with the celebration of Confederate Memorial Day which is also in April.
A common meal at Andersonville, if any, might be cornbread and peas so a “prison meal” will be served prior to the program at 12:00 noon. Please RSVP to Judy Polson at 580-916-1847.
