Firefighters respond to house fire

A fire Saturday at 801 S. Second Ave. was extinguished by the Durant Fire Department.

A Durant home caught fire Saturday, according to the Durant Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to 801 S. Second Ave. and when they arrived, the four occupants were out of the house. According to a DFD report, smoke was emitting from one side and there were flames coming from another side of the home.

The occupants were renting the home and did not have insurance. Johnathan Williams was the name of one occupant and the home is owned by Nicole and David Page, the report stated.

Durant Fire Marshal Wade Boyd said the home was a total loss and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The house was valued at $65,000.
