DISD recognizes sports accomplishments

The Durant School Board met earlier this week for the regular May meeting.

The Board of Education approved certified staff for the upcoming 2017-18 school year.

All three were hired for one year temporary positions.

Amanda Tonubbee was hired as Math Teacher at Durant Middle School.

Sarah Grace was hired as Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at Robert E. Lee Elementary School.

Mary Jo Dobbins was hired as a part time Special Education Teacher.

Superintendent Duane Merideth gave a report on the construction project at Washington Irving that is 65% complete.

Athletes in Durant school district have been very busy lately.

Merideth recognized the Girls Golf team who competed at the state tournament.

They finished third place and were also named the Academic State Champions.

The girls tennis team made it to state final for the first time as they qualified for the tournament.

Baseball won their regional bracket and will go to state finals.

Varsity baseball won their tournament making them eligible to compete in the state tournament to be held this weekend.

Varsity track and field will compete this weekend in their state tournament.

The meetings for the Durant School Board are held the first Monday of the month at the DISD building in Durant.
