A teen girl was airlifted to a Dallas hospital and listed in serious condition after an accident Sunday afternoon on Lake Texoma.

The unnamed 16-year-old girl and 59-year-old Nancy Hogg were riding jet skis when the accident occurred, approximately 100 yards southwest of the boat ramp at West Burns Run in Bryan County.

The two were driving the watercraft toward each other and turning at the last moment to splash each other, according to official reports.

The accident occurred when Hogg did not make the turn in time to miss the teen’s vessel, the report stated. Both drivers were ejected from their vessels.

Other boaters in the group brought them and the vessels to shore. Hogg refused medical treatment but the teen was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas with leg injuries.

In other news, Durant firefighters were called out to a structure fire at 13th Avenue and Louisiana Street early this morning.

The house was vacant with no utilities connected. Firefighters found it unlocked when entering to put out the flames.

According to the Durant Fire Department report, a lot of smoke was coming from the house, but the blaze was contained to the center of the structure.
