ALTON — Officials this morning unveiled three more summer concerts for Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater, including a country music legend.
None of the acts are “tribute bands,” they stressed.
Mayor Brant Walker, the Alton Amphitheater Committee, numerous sponsors and producer Sam Foxman of Evntiv of St. Louis, announced that the “Under the Sun Tour” featuring Smash Mouth, Uncle Kracker, Sugar Ray and Sister Hazel will perform July 2 at the amphitheater in Riverfront Park.
Then, on July 3, the city of Alton will hold its annual fireworks festival over the Mississippi River, with ticketed musical entertainment by regional bands Leslie Craig & The Hellbenders, Tyler Fillmore Band and Nashvegas.
The third act they announced is Kenny Rogers, who will take the stage on Sept. 6 with a yet-to-be-named guest. Rogers, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, has 120 hit singles and has sold 130 million records in several music genres.
The city and Evntiv also have incorporated the previously announced, John Michael Montgomery concert on June 7 into its publicized lineup, which will benefit Senior Services Plus’ Meals on Wheels program. The Harman Family Band will open the show, which will be SSP’s fifth concert in its “Feed the Need” series.
Montgomery’s hits include, “Life’s a Dance,” “I Can Love You Like That,” and, “I Swear.”
