Several people have been charged with theft crimes and eluding police.


Darin Truson Kinnamon, 43, Durant, was charged Tuesday with entering with intent to steal copper, and possession of stolen copper.


He was arrested Sunday after Deputies John Bates and Vinny Cacace responded to a theft-in-progress call on Ashley B Lane. According to Cacace’s report, a man on a four wheeler was observed pulling wire that had been taken from property there. The suspect turned south on Sawmill Road.


Deputies then went to a nearby scrap yard and arrested Kinnamon at the scene, the report stated.


In another, unrelated copper case, Edward Lee Stair, 50, Durant, was charged with possession of stolen copper, entering with intent to steal copper and knowingly concealing stolen property. He was charged following an investigation by Calera Police. According to court papers, Stair possessed copper that had been stolen from the 300 block of South Service Road.


Matthew Wayne Mann, 26, Atoka, has been charged with felony attempting to elude a police officer and misdemeanor charges of DUI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage.


According to court papers, Mann attempted to elude Durant Police Officer Russell Harkey on Sunday while traveling on Highway 69/75 south of Washington Avenue. Court papers state Mann was driving a Camaro at a high rate of speed and that the vehicle struck an exit sign.


In another pursuit, Patrick John Moersch, 29, Calera, was charged with felony attempting to elude a police officer. According to court papers, Moersch, who was driving a pickup, on Highway 69/75, sped away from Calera Police Officer Zachary McIntyre on Friday.


He was also charged with driving under suspension, failure to carry insurance verification and failure to pay taxes on the vehicle.


Brian Keith Davis, 29, Cartwright, has been charged with second-degree burglary, knowingly concealing stolen property and possession of a firearm after felony conviction.


According to court papers, he burglarized a home Saturday in Cartwright and he was in possession of a stolen pistol, pocket knives and jewelry. Davis was arrested by Deputy Vinny Cacace.
