The Durant Fire Department has been dispatched to several fires in the past few days.


They responded to three fires on Jan. 17.


Firefighters were dispatched at 10:51 a.m. to a grass fire two miles southeast of Durant on McLean Road. They put out the fire and left the scene at 12:16 p.m.


They responded to another outdoor fire at 1:21 p.m. at 623 S. 15th Avenue. They put out the fire in approximately 12 minutes.


Firefighters were dispatched to another outside fire at 8:57 p.m. at 19th and Mississippi. That fire was put out in approximately one minute.


A fire started in a ditch at 10:08 p.m. on Shields Drive Saturday. According to a department report, the fire spread from a ditch to a neighbor’s yard were it caught a pile of rubbish and grass on fire. Firefighters put out the fire and cleared the scene at 11:52 that evening.
