America, wake up! Wake up! We are floating down the river of complacency to destruction. It’s as if we’ve been sedated with enjoying the “good life,” not realizing that one day there will will no longer be a United States of America with liberty and justice for all.

We said nothing out loud when prayer was taken out of our schools. Now we have innocent children being shot and killed by young men who were never taught the 10 Commandments of God that says “Thou shalt not kill,” because they were also forbidden in public schools, or even outside our courthouses.

In the late 70s as a teacher at Northwest Heights, it was my privilege to put up a poster for Easter in the front hall near the office. I put up the empty tomb and above it, “He is risen!” A woman noticed it and told the principal Carl Mackey, “I don’t like it. Take it down”

Mr. Mackey simply replied, “I’m sorry you don’t like it, we do,” and it stayed up. Remember back when the majority ruled, not a few renegades? And when we had some backbone to speak up?

The children I taught were multi-handicapped (yes, we could say that too), so we were involved in Special Olympics and the Music Festival. Those are wonderful programs for “special” students. Many of the songs my class sang and illustrated were Christian songs” “Jesus Love the Little Children,” “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hand.” Never was there a protest or a negative remark. I guess ACLU didn’t know about Durant, Ok., at the time.

Our president says we are not a Christian nation and many seem to be doing all they can to prove that. We now have homosexual “rights.” They serve openly in the armed forces. Our military chaplains are to perform their marriages, but those very chaplains can be forced out of the military if they refuse or even if they pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ at religious services. We have let a minority rule and thumb their nose at the God of all creation.

Like Sodom and Gomorrah, America can expect God’s judgment unless we follow his advice in 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then, will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Not too long ago we had government of the people, by the people, for the people. Now we have government of the career politicians by the career politicians, and for the politician’s benefits, regardless what we the people say.

Our great nation we love and have grown up in God’s blessings, is war weary, divided by many languages, morals and ideals. We’ve always been a nation made up of many nationalities but we were united by one language, English, and worked together for liberty and justice for all. May God forgive us and help us.
