DURANT, Okla. – After coming out of the gates on fire in the opening tournament of the season, Southeastern golf will attempt to carry over that momentum when it travels to Broken Arrow, Okla., to play in the Northeastern State Golf Classic Sept. 23-24.
The Savage Storm opened the season at the GAC Fall Preview in Oklahoma City, Okla., and fired a three-over-par total team score of 867 to finish second, four shots behind the tourney winner.
The second outing of the season is hosted by Northeastern State and will be played at the 6,935 yard, par-72 Emerald Falls Golf Course in Broken Arrow.
This will be the second straight year the team has played in the event, finishing ninth a season ago out of a big crowd of 18 teams. Jeff Hunter led the team in that tourney with a 152 and finished in a tie for 23rd.
Hunter also led SE in its season opener this year by firing three-straight sub-par rounds of 69, 70 and 70 to shoot seven-under-par and finish third, six shots behind the individual winner.
The Storm had a pair of top-10 finishers as Marcos Sevilla Suarez posted back-to-back 69’s on day one and shot a 78 on day two ton finish even for the tournament in a tie for ninth.
Newcomer Ash Alstadt was one shot back of Sevilla after firing rounds of 75, 71, 71 and was tied for 13th.
Matt McIntosh added rounds of 71, 75 and 79 to finish in a tie for 28th, while Robert Perry finished with a 232 in 45th.
