SILO - The Rebels dodged a pair of conference foes in a three-game Friday baseball marathon to capture their latest district championship.
ROCK CREEK 12 ACHILLE 2 - Tyler Thompson picked up the win and Dakota Jackson (double, two RBIs) and Nash Hestily (two hits) provided offensive heroics for the Mustangs.
SILO 12 ACHILLE 0 - Lance House struck out eight Eagles in four-plus innings, with relief from Kendall Shives. The Eagles loaded the bases against the Rebels in the first inning, but Silo wiggled out of the jam.
Andrew Bolin hit a solo shot over the Bryan Agri-Products sponsor sign in left center field. House had a hit and an RBI; Leonard Sandler and a single, RBI and two stolen bases; Jarris Hamilton singled; Shives had two singles and an RBI; Hunter Jackson had four RBIs on three hits; Tanner Hearon had two singles and two RBIs.
T.J. Childree had a single for Achille, and good defensive plays were recorded by Eagles Cooper Turner (center field catch) and Lane Manry (third base bouncer for an out).
SILO 9 ROCK CREEK 0 - Andrew Bolin homered again over the Williams Sporting Goods sign as he hit 4-for-4. Sandler smacked a double off the sombrero of the Taco Casa sign to join House, Hamilton and Shives in the two-base knock column for the Rebels.
Toby McIntyre and Noe Alaniz got base hits for the Mustangs. Trenton Long took the win for Silo with Bolin relieving in the late innings. The Silo defense turned double plays in the first and sixth innings. Josh Eiler and Dakota Jackson split pitching duties for Rock Creek.
SILO 14 ROCK CREEK 3 - Rebel sophomore Forrest Ludrick got the start, with later help from Bolin, Shives and Hamilton. The Rebels put up seven runs in the first inning but the Mustangs prevented the shutout with Bronson Burns’ RBI single scoring Zach Cook in the early going.
A third inning rally saw Tyler Thompson’s RBI double score Cook, followed by an RBI fielder’s choice for Burns to bring home Josh Eiler. But a rebel double play ended the rally.
