SE Rodeo takes event titles at Pratt

PRATT, Kan. – Southeastern made the trek to Pratt, Kan., for the second event of the season, and came home with a pair of event championships, and the men posting a fourth-place finish on the weekend.
Dillon Holder picked up a belt buckle in the tie down roping, while Ethan Fox and his teammate Chase Boekhaus picked up buckles in the team roping to help the Savage Storm to its best finish of the season thus far.
Holder, a national qualifier from a season ago, turned in the second-best time of the long-go with a 9.7, but came back in the short go with an even better time of 8.7 to win the round and the average, topping 96 total riders.
One of those was Cooper Ratliff who still had a good showing after running a 10.8 in the long-go before clocking a slightly faster 10.7 in the short-go to finish fourth in the round and the average.
The win moved Holder into the top spot in the region and edged him into the top-25 in the national standings in the tie down roping. Ratliff moved all the way up to ninth in the Central Plains Region, with Chisum Thurston right behind in 10th.
Fox and Boekhaus stopped the clock with a 7.7 in their long-go run which earned them fourth and a trip back to the short-go where they turned in the quickest time of 7.1 to win the round and the average, besting 112 teams.
Fox climbed to second in the region among team, roping headers after racking up a win over the weekend, and moved all the way up to No. 20 in the national standings.
Southeastern will compete in the final rodeo of the fall when it travels to Alva, Okla., for the Northwestern Oklahoma State rodeo Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
