SILO - A dozen Rebels got into the scoring book on Friday in a 52-20 home win over the Roff Tigers.

Kendall Shives led the effort with 13 points as the only Silo Rebel in double digits. Leonard Sandler, Jarris Hamilton and Bryce Brister each had six, while Tanner Clark scored five to round out the offensive leaders.

“This team is pretty balanced and unselfish,” said Silo Basketball Coach Dax Simon. “Everyone chipped in. Andrew Bolin had a big night with defensive rebounds and steals. He played big, played strong.”

Silo led 10-5 after one quarter and outscored the Tigers 16-4 in the second to take a 26-9 halftime lead.

“We guarded pretty good,” Simon said. “We held them to nine points in the first half.”

A 10-2 third quarter had the Rebels ahead 36-11 going into the final eight minutes. The Rebels outscored Roff 16-9 in the final frame.

Bolin and Tyler Crozier scored three points apiece for Silo; others contributing two points each were Trenton Long, Hunter Jackson, Lance House, Garrett Hayes and Drake Shives.

Silo (2-1) will host Rock Creek on Friday, Nov. 15.

Roff girls 73 Silo 55

SILO - Mary Grider scored 27 points for the Lady Rebels but Roff’s huge third quarter gave the Lady Tigers a 73-55 win on Friday.

“Mary had a good game, came out and played through some contact,” said Silo Coach Dax Simon. “She played well enough to give us a chance to win.”

She was 12-for-18 on free throws in the game. Riley Newton backed her up with 14 points (including four from three-point range).

Hannah Bourne was held to six points, Karissa Marshall scored five and Jewel Zukosky had three.

The Lady Rebels led 12-11 after one quarter, but Roff outscored Silo 17-11 in the second to take a 28-23 halftime lead. Roff went on a 26-14 rampage in the third and led 54-37 to coast to victory.

The loss has the Lady Rebels (0-3) still looking for their first win on the basketball court. Silo graduated five members of last year’s team which went deep in the playoffs.

“We’ll be fine, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls,” said Simon. “They’ll figure it out, it just takes time to adjust and learn their new roles.”
