SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southeastern shot nearly 50 percent from the field and got 21 points from Urald King, but it was not enough to overcome Emporia State’s 12-of-21 three-point shooting performance as the Savage Storm fell to the Hornets 81-66 on Friday night in San Antonio, Texas.

The loss is SE’s second in-a-row and drops the overall record to 4-2 on the season.

The Storm hit 23-of-47 from the field, but managed to go just 1-for-12 from long range, compared to ESU’s 12 threes.

King’s 21 points led all scorers in the contest as he went 10-of-17 from the field, while Darius Harris added 15 points and Quinton Threadgill chipped in 13.

King’s seven rebounds was also a game-high, but SE was outrebounded by a 30-to-29 margin.

Threadgill dished out a team-best four assists.

SE scored first and held the lead for the first seven minutes until ESU hit a three at the 12:45 mark and took an 11-9 advantage.

The Storm would be playing catch up for most of the first half after that, finally retaking the lead twice near the two minute mark of the first half, with the last coming on a King layup with 1:39 to play.

The Hornets, however, would score the final five points of the half and take a 36-31 lead into the locker room at halftime.

SE would close the deficit right out of intermission, with a King jumper cutting the gap to 36-35 just under three minutes in.

However, ESU would answer with a 24-2 run that built a 23 point lead in just over four minutes of game time.

The lead would grow as large as 28, but SE would whittle away at the deficit before falling 81-66.

*Saturday’s matchup results with Central Missouri in San Antonio, Tx. will in Tuesday’s edition.
