DURANT - The Durant Lady Lions won its second game of the week when they beat the Duncan Lady Demons 31-20 on Friday night.
Reaghan Jones led her team once more in scoring with 9 points. Teammates Kylie Manning, Summer Simeroth and Cirea Taylor all had 5 points each.
“The girls struggled, but they held to form,” said head coach Casey Strahan. “They never fall on their face and not get up.”
The Lady Lions began the first period a little shaky, but still led 8-7 headed into the second period.
In the second period the Lady Lions found their groove and began to pull away from the Lady Demons. Alexa Richards, Simeroth, Alexus Coxsey and Jones all pitched in to give the Lady Lions a 17-9 halftime lead.
“We came out real flat in the first quarter, we have to figure out first quarter stuff,” said Strahan. “Then we did a little bit more in the second quarter. We got in some foul trouble, but we had some girls step up off the bench and helped us out.”
The Lady Lions couldn’t find its shots in the third period and let the Lady Demons back into game. Durant only scored three points in the quarter and saw their led slip to 20-17.
However, the Lady Lions got hot in the fourth period and outscored Duncan 11-3 as the Lady Lions won 31-20.
“We got another ‘W’ and that’s the main goal every time we step out on the floor. We still have things that we have to work on, we’ll get some practice in over the break and go to the Ardmore tournament and keep getting better,” said Strahan.
