ADA - A last second shot by the Ada Cougars sent the Durant Lions home with a 41-40 loss and the Lady Lions had their troubles with the Lady Cougars as they fell 69-32 on Tuesday night in Ada.

The Durant Lions had the game in hand, so it seemed.

With only 52 seconds left in the game, the Lions led 40-39. Durant had possession of the ball and working the clock. Then with 35 seconds on the clock, the Lions committed a fatal turnover.

Ada was now in control of its fate.

With 14 seconds remaining the Cougars put a game winning shot, but it bounced off the rim and Ada grabbed a rebound. Then the Cougars called a time out. After the time out, the Cougars’ Cory Kilby took a mid-range jumper with 3.9 seconds left and it fell for the game winner.

Durant’s James Donelean had his biggest game of the season with a team-high 13-points and three blocks. Will Engle pitched in with 11-points and Zac Cater finished with six points.

The ball just didn’t the bounce the Lions way on Tuesday night. Durant created some clean looks at the basket, but some shots were left on the rim and wouldn’t fall.

The Lions gear up for another road trip as the visit Hugo on Friday night.

The Lady Cougars dominated the first period and set the tone for the rest of the game. The Lady Cougars led 22-5 after the first quarter.

A flip of momentum came in the second period as the Lady Lions shut down Ada’s offense and outscored them 14-11. The Lady Lions trailed 34-19 headed into the half.

However, the Lady Lions couldn’t carry that momentum into the second half as the Lady Cougars began to roll. Durant was outscored in the third period 19-5 and outscored in the fourth quarter 16-8.
