DURANT, Okla. - Southeastern’s Laramie Beal has been named the Great American Conference Co-Player of the Week following her performance in the Savage Storm’s season-opening trip to San Antonio, Texas.
SE finished the weekend 3-2, but are not scheduled to be back on the field until Feb. 22 following the cancellation of the Southeastern Regional Invitational due to impending weather conditions.
Beal, a sophomore from Coalgate, Okla., opened her season by hitting .462 at the St. Mary’s NCAA Division II College Classic. It is the second time in her career she has earned the conference weekly honor, with the last coming on April 23 of 2013.
She collected a pair of doubles over the five-game event and she drove in five runs. She notched multi-hit games in wins against Texas A&M-International and St. Edward’s.
Southeastern is now slated to return to action Feb. 22 when it opens GAC play on the road with a 1 p.m. double-header against Ouachita Baptist.
