Lady Eagles and Caddo Bruins advance in playoffs

CADDO - The real basketball season has begun as playoff basketball tipped-off in Caddo on Friday night.
The Achille Lady Eagles eliminated the Rock Creek Lady Mustangs playoff hopes with a deciding 53-42 victory. The Caddo Bruins 3-point assault from beyond the arc resulted in a 68-51 win over the Achille Eagles.
Achille Lady Eagle senior Kayla Wright and Rock Creek Lady Mustang senior Harlie Heflin combined for 42 points. Wright posted 20 points and Heflin had 22 points.
In the first period, it was Heflin vs. Lady Eagles. While Achille as a team scored 16 points in the opening period, Heflin scored 10 of Rock Creek’s 12 points. Lady Eagles led 16-12.
Scoring went cold for both teams in the second period as Lady Mustangs outscored Achille 7-6 and the Lady Eagles led 22-19 at the half.
It was a tight third period as both teams traded buckets. Heflin scored six of Rock Creek’s eight points. Wright and Madison Stanglin combined for 12 points and Achille led 34-27.
In the fourth period Wright took over for the Lady Eagles. She scored 10 points in the period and play strong defense with three steals. Rock Creek couldn’t keep pace as the Lady Eagles roll to a 53-42 victory.
Caddo Bruins lived behind the arc against the Achille Eagles in the Friday night playoff match-up. The Bruins made a total on 11 three-pointers in the game.
Three Bruins finished the night in double digits. Both Jacob Ross and Patrick Joines had 15 points and Tanner Grace had 12 points. Achille’s Lane Manry had the hot hand for as he finished with 20 points and Jason Todd put up 14 points.
Caddo didn’t waste time with their 3-point snipers in the first period. Ross, Joines and Grace hit four 3-pointers to get the show started. Achille tried to keep up, but the Bruins led 22-13 to close out the first period.
Both teams traded buckets in the second period and the Bruins held on to its lead, 38-30, headed into halftime.
Caddo’s sharp shooters begun to drain 3-pointers again in the third period. The Bruins outscored Achille in the period 19-8 to extend their lead to 57-38. The Bruins made four 3-pointers in the period.
Achille tried to rally in the fourth period, but Caddo’s lead was too much to over come and the Bruins won 68-51.
