CALERA - The Red River Baseball Classic hosted by Calera Bulldogs got underway on Thursday afternoon at the ballpark. Colbert beat Caney, 12-0; Boswell got the win over Caddo, 10-6; Calera run-ruled Ector, 11-0 and Stonewall beat Trenton.

Caddo vs Boswell:

The Boswell Scorpions came away with a 10-6 victory over the Caddo Bruins to move on the winner’s bracket.

Caddo drew frist blood in the bottom of the second inning after Zach Walker hit a RBI double to left field and led 1-0.

Caddo held on to its lead until Boswell bats came alive in the fourth inning. Boswell turned out four runs in the inning to grab the lead from Caddo. The bases were loaded for Boswell’s Trevor Phillips. He cleared the bases with 3 RBI double. Then Caleb Brown drove his teammate home to another run and Boswell led 4-1.

Caddo came back in the bottom of the fourth inning when Tristen Paris knocked in a run to cut into Boswell’s lead, 4-2.

In the fifith inning Boswell added two more runs to its total after Dusty Belvin and Brenton Berryhill both hit RBIs. Boswell led 6-2.

Boswell added another run in the sixth inning. Then added another three runs in the seventh inning after Belvin, Phillips and Ben Dill all hit RBIs and gave Boswell a 10-2 lead.

Caddo tried to ralley in the bottom of the seventh inning but came up short. Wyatt Wright, Zac Walker, Reece Chavez and Daniel Stone all hit RBIs, but enough to over Boswell.

Colbert vs Caney:

Colbert flexed its muscle against the Caney and run-ruled them 12-0.

It may be a game, but Colbert wan’t playing around as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Colton Bruce got things going with a RBI and later would score a run. Then Colbert’s Chris Roberts scored on micuse by Caney’s pitcher. Then James Hair scored on a double steal. Keller Cummins hit a RBI to finish to end the inning.

Colbert added to its lead in the second inning after Payton Whitehead hit a 2 RBI single to give Colbert a 7-0 lead.

Colbert closed out the in the fifth inning after Dylan Jones smashed a 3 RBI double and teammate Bruce hit a 2 RBI double.

Calera vs Ector:

Calera wasted no time with Ector as they scored five runs in the first inning. It was a team effort as #12 Josh Loper, #10 Dakota Hodge , Jesse Collett, Braxton Barton and Michael Trammell all hit RBI’s to give Calera a 5-0 lead.

Calera’s defense shutdown Ector in the second inning as Calera continued to roll. Collett, #4 and Shawn Harper all got into the mix and hit RBI’s to extend thier led to 8-0.

Ector still could get runners on base, but Calera didn’t have problem as they posted three more runs to close out the game in the fourth inning. Harper, Hunter Goodwin and Collett all hit RBI’s to run-rule Ector.

Today’s Games:

Caddo vs Ector at Noon; Caney vs Stonewall at 2 p.m.; Colbert vs Trenton at 4 p.m. and Calera vs Boswell at 6 p.m.
