LadyStorm softballers will conclude a 12-game home stand with Friday-Saturday doubleheaders against Southern Arkansas.

First pitch on Friday is set for 1 p.m. with the start time for Saturday’s action at 11 a.m.

Weather permitting, of course.

Coach Ron Faubion’s young ladies are leading the Great American Conference standings with a 14-4 mark to go along with a 21-8 overall record.

Southern Arkansas (13-9 and 18-14) is fourth in the standings, third, really, because No. 2 Northwestern (11-5, 21-8) is not eligible for the tournament championship due to provisional membership status with the GAC.

Henderson State is third at 15-7 and 19-14.

East Central is fifth at 10-8 and 18-13, Harding sixth at 12-10 and 20-15 and Arkansas-Monticello seventh at 11-11 and 20-15.

Ouachita Baptist (7-15, 11-23), Arkansas Tech (5-13, 13-17), Southern Nazarene (also not eligible at 5-13, 11-20) and Southwestern (5-13, 9-21) round out the standings.

Other top-end matchups this weekend will have Henderson State hosting Southern Nazarene, Northwestern hosting Harding and East Central hosting Arkansas-Monticello.

Sweeps by any of these teams could rewrite the GAC standings.

SOUTHEASTERN is hitting the ball at a collective .302 clip with 22 home runs and 131 runs batted in.

The team has scored 144 runs on 39 doubles and one triple. The LadyStorm have stolen 50 bases in 66 attempts.

Sydney Kramer leads the way with a .447 batting average and leads the team in at-bats (94), hits (42), doubles (11) and runs batted in (25). She is also six for six in stolen bases and attempts.

Jessica Simmons checks in at .420 and leads in runs scored (28), triples (1) and stolen bases (22 of 28).

Laramie Beal is hitting .413 with a team high seven home runs and is second with 24 RBIs.

Haley Strawn is batting .310 with three homers and four stolen bases in four tries.

Kramer, Simmons, Beal and Strawn have each started all 29 games this season.

Lacie Cook, who has also started all 39 games and got off to a slow start at the plate, is up to .282 with three doubles and one home run.

Courtney Riddle is hitting .323 with three home runs, two doubles and 13 runs batted in, but has played in only 12 games, starting nine, after stepping on a first baseman’s while trying to beat out a hit. That foot should not have been on the bag.

Mindy McElroy leads the pitching staff at 11-3 with a 1.76 earned-run average in a team-high 83.1 innings. She has seven of the team’s eight complete games and is holding opponents to a .248 batting average.

Jacee Bennett is 7-3 with a 3.74 ERA after Tuesday’s unexpected loss to East Central. She has struck out 60 in 63.2 innings and is holding opponents to a .281 average.

Shayna Milam is 3-2 with a 3.18 ERA and has 28 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.

THE LADY MULERIDERS have a team batting average of .300 with 36 home runs, 158 RBIs, 45 doubles and two triples.

The team has stolen 34 bases in 43 attempts.

Shelby Miller, 5-9 freshman pitcher/infielder is the leading hitter at .413 with four home runs and five stolen bases in six attempts.

Brooke Goad, 5-6 freshman outfielder, is hitting .364 with a whopping 14 home runs and 28 RBIs.

Hanna Gill, 5-4 junior pitcher, is 5-2 with a 3.40 ERA in 35 innings and holds opponents to a .281 average.

Miller is 7-7 with a 3.71 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 107.2 innings. She limits opponents to a .291 average.

Game time for Friday’s doubleheader is 1 p.m. and Saturday’s action will start at 11 a.m.
