KINGSTON — Chickasaw Pointe golf course in Kingston hosted Day 1 of a two-day high school golf tournament Thursday afternoon.


Golfers from Durant and other area schools populated the course. There were 12 teams in all: Kingston, Latta, Lone Grove, Madill, Sulphur, Thackerville, Tishomingo, Turner, Hugo, Wilson and Wood Home School.


As a team, Durant was in third place after the opening day. Trey Hunt shot 82 for fourth place, and Conner Ruminer shot 86 for ninth place. Hunter Jamison shot 94, Collin Stevenson shot 97, Wes Engle shot 96, Craig McAtee shot 118, Ben Lawerenson shot 93, Taylor Cox shot 93, Christian Bruce shot 95 and Josh Jackson shot 109. Par for the course is 72.


The tournament continues today as the Lions look to jump up into first place. They have stiff competition in Lone Grove, Madill and Tishomingo.
