HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. - Southeastern opened play at the Natural State Golf Classic in Heber Springs, Ark., with a team total of 293 which leaves them in second place after one round of play.
The Savage Storm will complete the tournament on Tuesday with the team’s first golfer slated for an 8:20 a.m. tee time on hole number one.
SE’s nine-over par total is two shots off the lead mark of 291 posted by the host Harding.
Jeff Hunter has led the charge through one round after posting a one-under par 70 to put himself in a two-way tie for the tournament’s individual lead.
Joey Schroeder finished his opening round with a 73 and is three shots off the lead in a tie for eighth.
Marcos Sevilla Suarez sits one shot behind Schroeder after carding a 74 and is tied for 13th.
Mason Horner posted a 76 in his first round to finish tied for 23rd, while Coleman Caldwell wrapped up his first round with an 83 and is tied for 49th.
SE is just two shots off the lead, while holding a two-stroke lead over third place in the field, Blue Mountain College.
Southern Arkansas is currently in fourth with a team total of 301, followed by Roger State and Union in a tie for fifth at 303.
Four other Great American Conference schools are ion the tournament, with East Central sitting in seventh at 304, Southern Nazarene at 310, Northwestern at 316 and Ouachita Baptist at 322.
