The Calera Bulldogs (14-1, ranked fourth) hit the pavement and won the Thackerville tourney last week.

The Bulldogs took home the prize after they beat Achille 25-0, kicked Thackerville around with a 14-5 victory and beat Ringling in the championship game 7-6.

Calera vs. Achille:

The Bulldogs’ offense exploded for 25 runs against the Achille Eagles in the first game of the tourney.

Shawn Harper took the mound for the Bulldogs and kept Achille batters at bay. Harper pitched four innings, allowed one hit, one walk and struck out six batters.

Not only did Harper dominate on the mound, he also rocked the batters box with a game-high six RBIs.

Connor Hamilton scored three runs with three hits and two RBIs, Josh Loper scored four runs and hit two RBIs, Riley Barton scored five runs and had four RBIs, Caleb Phillips scored five runs with three RBIs, Aaron Markham and Hunter Goodwin had two RBIs apiece, and Chase Hamilton scored and drove in a run.

Calera vs. Thackerville:

Then, Thackerville ran into Calera’s offensive might as the Bulldogs won 14-5.

Lucas Wright pitched three innings with four earned runs, six walks, allowed a home run and struck out six batters. Josh Loper came in for relief and pitched two innings to close out the game with five strikeouts.

Conner Hamilton scored two runs and hit two RBIs, Loper scored two runs and drove in three base runners, Caleb Phillips scored two runs with two hits and three RBIs, Dakota Hodge scored two runs with three hits and three RBIs. Riley Barton, Shawn Harper and Michael Temmell all had a RBI apiece.

Calera vs. Ringling - Championship game:

Ringling and Calera went toe to toe in the championship game, but Calera persevered and beat Ringling 7-6.

Connor Hamilton pitched five innings for Calera. Hamilton allowed four earned runs, one walk with five strikeouts and allowed two home runs. Josh Loper came in for two innings and allowed one run and stuck out one.

Riley Barton had a team high with three RBIs off four hits and scored three runs for the Bulldogs. Loper, Caleb Phillips, Shawn Harper and Chase Hamilton all hit one RBI apiece.
