The Durant Lions continue to struggle on the baseball diamond with a 14-2 district home loss against Shawnee on Tuesday.
Highlights were few and far between for Lions baseballers on Tuesday. Brandon Robison got the start and held the Wolves scoreless in the first inning but ran into trouble in the second. Shawnee scored five runs on three hits and a Durant error in the second.
Brayden Green pitched the third for Durant, giving up one run on three hits. He got into trouble in the fourth, which saw two more Lion pitchers (Tyler Stovall and Alex Brooks) take the mound.
But Shawnee scored six in the fourth and two in the fifth to overcome Durant’s two-run fourth inning.
The Lions had stranded four runners on base through three innings when they started to hit the ball in the fourth. Cooper Web singled and got home on a Tyler Stovall RBI double.
Spencer Tidwell collected an RBI on a fielder’s choice which scored Dakota Finley (2-for-2 with a pair of singles). Stovall went 1-2, Webb 1-2 and Robison 1-3 with a single.
Defensive gems included a diving catch for left fielder Matthew Knox, who also got a Shawnee runner out at third when he didn’t tag up.
