DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern’s Jeff Hunter and Marcos Sevilla Suarez have each earned All-Great American Conference selections, with Hunter making the first team, while Sevilla was named a second team pick.
Hunter, a senior from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, is having his best season at SE with a team-best 74.15 scoring average on 26 rounds and is the only golfer to play in all 10 tournament this season. He has six rounds at par or better and has twice shot 69 in a round.
He is coming off a eighth-place finish at the GAC Tournament, and has turned in a win at the Natural State Classic, as well five other top-10 finishes on the year.
Sevilla, a sophomore from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, has been right on Hunter’s heels for the entire season, posting a 74.43 average over 23 rounds. In addition, he has five under-par rounds and has also twice fired a 69.
His best finish on the season was fourth at the Natural State Classic while adding four other top-10 finishes.
The SE golf team is now in a holding pattern as it awaits its continued postseason fate in hopes of advancing to the NCAA Super-Regional Tournament scheduled for May 6-7 in Eureka, Mo.
