District pairings for area high-school baseball teams in Classes A, B and 2A have been released by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletics Association. The smaller classes are starting this week. Class 2A tournaments will kick off next week.
Class A District 16 consists of Rock Creek, Caddo and Achille. That tournament will be played at the Bokchito baseball field.
The action will start at 2 p.m. Thursday with Caddo and Achille. Rock Creek will take on the loser at 4 and the winner at 6. The two remaining teams will play at 2 p.m. Friday and 4 if necessary.
In Class B, the District 13 draw took Bennington and Eagletown to Boswell. Boswell beat Eagletown 14-1 and Bennington 10-4. The Scorpions and Bears play again today, starting at 4 p.m.
Caney will host the District 20 tournament. Mill Creek and Battiest will play at 3 p.m. Thursday. The Cougars will take on the loser at 5 p.m. and the winner at 7. Game 4 is slated for 1 p.m. Friday, and if necessary, Game 5 at 3 p.m.
Classes A and B Regional assignments will be released Monday, with tournaments to be played May 1-3.
All alone in Class 2A District 1 is the top-ranked Silo Rebels. Silo (22-1) was in action Tuesday, taking down Tushka 6-5. The Tigers (22-4) are ranked No. 3.
Tushka drew Wewoka (0-5) in District 3.
Calera will host Wynnewood for the District 4 playoff.
In District 5, Colbert will play Healdton/Fox at 4:30 and 6:30 May 1. If neither team wins twice, they will play again at 4 p.m. May 2.
In Class 3A District 9, Kingston will be at home against Atoka.
District tournaments in Class 2A, 3A and 4A must be completed no later than Saturday, and some began earlier to try to avoid rain in the forecast.
Regional assignments will be made and released Monday, with tournaments to be conducted May 8-10.
The run rule for all baseball playoff games is 10 after five innings.
The spring 2014 slow-pitch softball District tournaments will be a one-day, double-elimination affair to be completed no later than Saturday, as announced by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletics Association.
In Class 4A, Silo and Panama will travel to Wilburton to determine the District 10 victor. The Lady Rebels will play at 2:30 p.m. Friday the loser of Wilburton/Panama and the winner at 3:30. The championship game is slated for 4:30 (or 5:30 if necessary).
Calera will welcome Colbert and Antlers for the District 11 competition Thursday. Colbert and Antlers will play at 4:30 p.m. Calera will take on the loser at 5:30 and the winner at 6:30. The championship is slated for 7:30 with the if-necessary game at 8:30.
In Class 3A District 15, Caddo and Clayton will play at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tushka.
For the Class 2A District 7 determinant, Rock Creek will host Boswell, Achille and Turner. The Lady Mustangs will meet The Lady Scorpions at noon Thursday. The Lady Eagles will face Turner at 1:15. The losers will play at 2:30, the winners at 3:45. The remaining two teams will play at 6:15 and, if necessary, 7:30.
In Class A, Bennington had been designated as the District 14 host. Due to damage from the April 12 storm, the games will be played at Caney, also featuring Thackerville. Pittsburg forfeited. At 1 p.m. today, Caney will take on Thackerville. Bennington will play the loser at 2:30 and the winner at 4.
If one team is already eliminated, the championship will start at 5:30 and an if-necessary game at 7. If all teams have only one loss, Caney will play Thackerville at 5:30 and the winner will face Bennington at 7 for the championship.
Regulation seven-inning games will be played unless the run rule applies (15 runs after three innings, 12 after four or 10 after five).
Each District winner will be assigned to one of four double-elimination Regional tournaments. Those assignments will be released Monday afternoon.
