The Durant Lady Lions golf team are headed to the State Tournament after they cruised through the Regional Tournament held at McAlester Country Club.

With high winds coupled with a difficult course, the Lady Lady Lions were able to break their own school record by eight shots. Their old record was a score of 343, it’s now 335. Which put the Lady Lions in second place just behind Deer Creek with a final score of 331.

Sydney Youngblood led the way with a winning individual score of 74. She made birdie on the 18th hole to secure the win. Sydni McKaughan shot 83 for fourth place, Gabbi Ford shot 87 and tied for fifth place, Rheagan Jones shot 91 for seventh place and Karina Parmley shot 101.

“They had their best tournament of the season,” said coach Tanner Dupree. “Four girls in the top ten individuals at the Regional Tournament is very impressive and something I am very proud of. However, we still have our sights on the State Tournament in Duncan next week were we hope to improve from last year’s third place finish.”

The State Tournamaent will held on April 7th and 8th at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.

The boys golf team will play Regionals at McAlester on April 5th.
