Durant Middle School’s softball red team exploded for 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back in an 18-0 win over Marietta in the opening round of the Tishomingo Tournament on Thursday.


The red squad is now 4-0 on the young season.


The Lady Lions totaled 14 hits in the contest and took advantage of seven Marietta errors in the victory.


Tristyn Hamilton led the offensive barrage with three hits while Randi McLarry and Alexus Gibson added two each. McLarry also drove in three runs with Kristin Scott and Kalee Boston contributing two RBI apiece.


In the pitcher’s circle Hamilton also yielded just two hits and fanned six batters in three innings to pick up the win.
