The Hope Cycle in Durant will be rounding up donations for its first-ever closet swap event on Aug. 14 at the Clay Jones Community Building.

Donations started July 15 and continue until Aug. 12 at the Hope Chest in Durant.

Swappers are invited to drop off any clean and smoke-free clothing at Hope Chest before the swap event on Tues. and Thurs. between 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Swappers will be able to make donations on swap day at 9 a.m.

April Childers, Hope Chest, said she really enjoys meeting her customer’s needs. The Hope Chest has helped various people and organizations in the Durant community with recycled clothing.

The Hope Chest is one of three functions in the Hope Cycle line.

The Hope Cycle also produces hand bags and other fashions to benefit the Hope Chest. “This has become a true blessing. Last month we gave over 1,200 clothing items to people who needed help,” said Childers.

There are no guidelines or financial needs to receive clothing at the Hope Chest.

Childers encourages all participants to attend the early bird session at 10 a.m. The second session will start at 12 p.m., followed by the bonus session at 1 p.m.

Participants in the swap will receive tokens for each donation they make. The tokens will later be used in the swap to receive other donations. All donations left after the swap will be donated to the Hope Chest.

Anyone interested in donating to the Hope Cycle or making an impact in the community can visit www.hopecycle.org.
